Bruce Springsteen - “Nebraska”

For some strange reason I always thought this was one of his earlier albums, but it was actually after a large portion of his success. The reason is the decision to release 4-track cassette home demo recordings meant for a full band album with The E Street Band. You can tell after hearing “Atlantic City” live what the album should have sounded like. It’s shows Springsteen’s roots of folk music and has some of his darkest lyrics (check out the serial killer story on the title track). Barely anyone is taking those kinds of chances in music, especially today or at the heights of their careers. Bravo Bruce!
